Big Day of Giving 2018

Thank you to all of our supporters who donated to CNGA on Big Day of Giving.

We appreciate your dedication and support.

California grasslands are among the most endangered ecosystems in the United States. Birds and insects that rely on grasslands are among the fastest declining species in North America.

Join us in protecting this valuable habitat.

    Saturday June 2, 2018  9 am to 5 pm

Trudeau Conference Center, Redwood Regional Park, 11500 Skyline Blvd, Oakland, CA 94619

Grasses are fun and challenging to identify! Build your skills:

    • Understand California’s grassland ecology
    • Familiarize yourself with grass-specific terminology
    • Identify grasses by using The Jepson Manual, 2nd ed. dichotomous key
    • Recognize the basic groups and common species
    • Build a “collection” of identified samples

A class syllabus, 10x hand lenses, and basic keys from the Jepson Manual website provided. In the afternoon we will wander in adjacent serpentine prairie and annual grasslands to see grasses in the field and round out this full day of learning.
